PATC Map 10 / VA bus

 

$25 (nonmembers $28) + $8 park fee/pass.  Long hike: 10.6 mi., 1950 ft. ascent, 4350 ft. descent.  Short hike: 8.6 mi., 1000 ft. ascent, 3400 ft. descent.  An inviting swim amid the moss-covered, hemlock-shaded boulders of the sylvan Hughes River swimming hole is the climax of this mostly downhill delight from the Skyline Drive. We’ll all get there by descending the Corbin Mtn. Trail to the Nicholson Hollow Trail, stopping for the swim before ending at Nethers.  To reach the Corbin Mtn. Trail, long hikers follow the Appalachian, Nicholson Hollow, and Indian Run Trails from Jewel Hollow Overlook; short hikers take the Old Rag Fire Road.
